Artist's Comments

This is one of my concentration pieces.. My concentration is on " Reflective Identity." So basically the thing is there's this girl (model is melissa) and she looks in the mirror and sees all the things she doesnt like about her self and that are wrong. so she decides to change her self to the person she wants to be (model is me :D) This is the first in the series, and is based on the lines "The mirror girl stares back at me with a look that knows too much" from the mirror girl poem... In every piece the girl has to be reflected somehow and in this piece she's reflected in the drawings she's angerly scribbling..

Medium: Acrylic, black and white charcoal pencil, and pencil

Time: 6 class periods?

i love this. and the way that she decided to change herself into who SHE wants to be and not what OTHERS want her to be.

What a great composition and consentration..I love the colors and the whole feel of this piece! Great stuff! :D Her thumb seems a bit short and the back of her head a bit large but that could be the angle of it all too. But I really do love this piece!

yeah... the thumb is holding the pencil down so part of it is covered with a shadow so its kinda hard to notice. as for the back of the hair, that was a "my bad!" heh, i guess i just got a little carried away with the hair ^^;;; heh. Thanks for the praise though!

Whoo...my first impression of this piece was that I didn't like it. But about 30 seconds later, after I identified all my issues with it, I realized that they're what make me like this so much! Very interpretive. I give it two and a half thumbs up.
